Reading Resident Jim Cirulli Celebrates Milestone 100th Birthday
Celebrating a remarkable century of life, Jim Cirulli of Reading, Pennsylvania, marked his 100th birthday on November 8, 2025. Born in a modest home on Jefferson Street, Cirulli’s life has been a tapestry woven with family, work, and community.
Jim Cirulli was born to Belsario and Marie Antoinette Ciccarne Cirulli, being the youngest of eight siblings. His family ties have remained strong throughout his life, with cherished memories of growing up alongside his brothers and sisters, including his siblings Alfred, Teresa, and Julie.
Throughout his life, Cirulli lived in various places, including Philadelphia and the Philippines during his time in the Army, but he spent the majority of his life in Reading. He was married to Catherine Cirulli, a local manicurist, for 47 years until her passing. Reflecting on their relationship, Jim described marrying Catherine as one of the happiest moments of his life. He expressed that he would change anything about himself to maintain their bond.
Jim Cirulli’s professional journey began as a cook in the Army. After his service, he learned the trade of shoe repair alongside his brother in Shillington. He later established his own shoe repair shop in Laureldale, which he operated for 18 years. Following that, he embarked on a 40-year venture with T&C Knife Rentals in Reading. His dedication to hard work and craftsmanship has left a lasting mark on the community.
Family remains a central focus in Cirulli’s life. He is the father of five children, including Frank, Marie, and Jack, all of whom have passed away. He also has a surviving son, Sam, and a stepdaughter, Rene. His legacy continues with grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to family, Jim has cultivated a passion for gardening, woodworking, and home improvement projects. His hands-on approach to life reflects his dedication to enjoying simple pleasures.
As he celebrates this significant milestone, Jim Cirulli’s life story is not just one of longevity but also of love, resilience, and a deep connection to his family and community. His journey serves as an inspiring reminder of the richness that a century of experiences can bring.
