Amazon Prime Launches Free Global Broadcast for Thanksgiving NFL Game
UPDATE: Amazon Prime Video is making waves with a groundbreaking change to its NFL broadcast this Thanksgiving weekend. For the first time ever, the streaming giant will air the highly anticipated matchup between the Chicago Bears and the Philadelphia Eagles for free globally on Black Friday, November 24, 2023, at 3 pm ET.
This move aligns Amazon with streaming rivals like Netflix and YouTube, both of which have already made significant strides in broadcasting NFL games internationally. Last year, Netflix initiated a global deal to showcase two games on Christmas Day, a trend that will continue this season with another festive double-header.
Amazon, which holds exclusive rights for Thursday Night Football in the United States, is now expanding its reach beyond domestic audiences. The Black Friday Football broadcast exemplifies this shift, enabling fans worldwide to enjoy the game without any subscription fees.
The NFL landscape is rapidly evolving, with YouTube also entering the fray by streaming the Week 1 clash between the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs for free in Sao Paulo, Brazil. As streaming continues to dominate, Amazon’s new initiative not only enhances access to sports entertainment but also signifies a competitive response to its industry counterparts.
Looking ahead, Amazon Prime Video is set to feature another Christmas game, where the Denver Broncos will face the Kansas City Chiefs in prime time. This game will be part of a triple-header on December 25, 2023, with the first two games broadcasted on Netflix, starting at 1 pm ET. The matchups include the Dallas Cowboys visiting the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions squaring off against the Minnesota Vikings.
As streaming services continue to reshape sports viewing, Amazon’s latest announcement promises to boost engagement and accessibility for NFL fans worldwide. With the Thanksgiving game just around the corner, excitement is building as viewers prepare for a thrilling showcase of football action. Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops.
