Soyou Reveals Secrets to Maintaining Weight After 10 kg Loss
Soyou, a member of the renowned girl group SISTAR, has shared her personal journey of weight loss and maintenance through her YouTube channel, Soyougi. After losing an impressive 10 kg (22 lbs), she candidly discussed the changes in her body and lifestyle, as well as her commitment to maintaining her current weight.
In a recent video, Soyou revealed her shock at her latest InBody analysis, where she discovered her weight had dropped to 49 kg. “I always told myself never to go below 50 kg,” she explained, noting that her previous score had been in the 80s but had now fallen to the low 70s. She expressed concern when she saw her skeletal muscle mass drop to the low 20s, resulting in feelings of weakness and being underweight.
Focus on Muscle and Diet
Since realizing these changes, Soyou has prioritized her fitness routine, concentrating on lower-body, abdominal, and back workouts to regain muscle mass while maintaining her body fat levels. Identifying herself as a “maintenance dieter,” she detailed her workout regimen, which often spans three hours and includes a mix of cardio and strength training.
In terms of her diet, she typically consumes one to two meals daily, mostly in the morning or afternoon, opting for a very light dinner. “Just a taste,” she remarked, indicating that even foods she once enjoyed, like ramen and rice, are now left unfinished. On days when she does have rice, she limits herself to 1/4 to 1/2 a bowl. Notably, she has eliminated cheat days, which previously led her to overindulge. “If I have a cheat day, I completely let go,” she admitted, opting instead to eat until she feels satisfied without overindulging.
Her top maintenance tip includes drinking plenty of water before meals to help manage hunger. She also emphasizes the importance of staying hydrated throughout the day.
Health Considerations and Future Goals
Soyou did not shy away from discussing the potential downsides of rapid weight loss. “After losing so much, I get dizzy easily, and my orthostatic hypotension got worse,” she noted. She highlighted the dangers of losing weight too quickly, cautioning that while weight can come on fast, losing it when already at a low level can lead to alarming drops. “If you’re dieting, please take your supplements and focus on healthy foods. It’s really important,” she urged her audience.
As she embarks on a one-month lifestyle project aimed at improving her health and building more muscle, Soyou remains dedicated to her fitness journey while sharing valuable insights with her fans. Her candid approach not only offers encouragement but also serves as a reminder of the importance of balance in diet and exercise.
