Canastota’s April Lewin Wins 2025 Madison County Photo Contest

April Lewin of Canastota has been awarded the grand prize in the 2025 Madison County Photo Contest for her captivating photograph titled, “Old Barn in Winter on Jones Rd. in Erieville, NY.” This image was praised by officials for its ability to “truly show the beauty of the town of Nelson and Madison County.” As part of her recognition, Lewin’s photograph will grace the cover of the 2026 Madison County Calendar.

In addition to the honor of having her work featured, Lewin received a grand prize of a $200 gift card for the Peterboro Table, a local restaurant in Morrisville. This contest highlights the talent within the community and encourages residents to appreciate their scenic surroundings.

Winning Photographs from Across the County

Alongside Lewin, several other photographers were recognized for their contributions. Winning submissions were selected for each town within Madison County, showcasing a range of perspectives on local beauty. The winners include:

The winning photographs will be displayed in the hallway leading to the Board of Supervisors Chambers at the County Office Building, located at 138 N. Court St. This exhibition will allow residents and visitors to appreciate the artistic talent present in their community.

Calendar Sales and Future Contests

The winning images will also be featured in the 2026 calendar, which is now available for purchase. The calendar, which spans 15 months, can be bought in person at the County Office Building or for $5 by contacting the Board of Supervisors Office at 315-366-2201 or via email at [email protected].

Officials expressed gratitude to all participants, noting the impressive 160 photo submissions received from approximately 65 different photographers. “Madison County thanks everyone who submitted photos and we look forward to making this contest an annual event, so go out and take pictures of our beautiful community,” they stated.
