Damaging Videos Resurface, Hegseth’s Alleged Illegal Order Exposed
UPDATE: New evidence has surfaced implicating Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in a scandal involving an allegedly illegal directive to target a drug smuggling vessel. Recently resurfaced videos show Hegseth claiming he observed the attack on September 2 via drone footage, contradicting his previous denials.
The controversy erupted after reports indicated that Hegseth issued a “spoken directive” for the missile strike that resulted in the deaths of at least 83 people in the southern Caribbean. This attack followed an initial strike that left two survivors clinging to wreckage. According to reports from Newsweek, Hegseth stated, “I watched it live. We knew exactly who was in that boat, we knew exactly what they were doing and we knew exactly who they represented.” He identified the targets as members of Tren de Aragua, a designated narco-trafficking organization.
Despite Hegseth’s claims last week that the report was “fake news,” the White House confirmed that he had authorized Admiral Frank Bradley to execute the strikes, asserting that Bradley “worked well within his authority and the law.” This revelation raises critical questions about Hegseth’s involvement in the military operations and the implications of his statements.
In a separate public address, Hegseth urged military leaders to abandon “stupid rules of engagement,” asserting, “We fight wars to win, not to defend.” His comments have been met with widespread criticism, with analysts questioning whether his directives could constitute a violation of domestic and international law.
The Trump administration has conducted over 20 strikes against alleged drug smuggling boats, leading to calls for investigations into possible war crimes. News analyst Brian Allen remarked on social media, “The White House swore Pete Hegseth knew nothing about the Caribbean strikes. Then a video surfaces of him bragging he watched it happen live. That’s not mixed messaging; that’s a full-blown cover-up caught in 4K.”
The resurfacing of these statements has created a firestorm on social media, with Democratic influencer Harry Sisson asserting that the White House has been caught in another lie. He stated, “After claiming Pete Hegseth didn’t know anything about the strikes in the Caribbean, footage has resurfaced of him in September saying he watched it LIVE. Completely exposed.”
As the situation develops, the impact of Hegseth’s directives and the legality of the strikes remain under intense scrutiny. The implications of these revelations could lead to significant political fallout and legal challenges.
