As the holiday season approaches, residents of Hillsborough County, Florida, face a growing challenge of food insecurity. To address this issue, the county’s Healthy Living Program has partnered with Feeding Tampa Bay to organize festive food pantry events. These initiatives aim to provide essential food support, enabling community members to celebrate the season without the stress of hunger.

The food pantry events are scheduled to take place at various locations throughout the county, including the Lee Davis Healthy Living Center next Thursday and at both the Plant City and SouthShore Healthy Living Centers the following Friday. Open to all residents aged 18 and over, the program does not impose income restrictions, ensuring that nutritious food is accessible to everyone in need.

The Healthy Living Program is committed to delivering more than temporary assistance. Monthly distributions will be complemented with additional support during the months of November and December, when the need for food assistance typically surges. Each food package includes fresh produce, meats, and pantry staples, designed to nourish families during the festive season.

Expanding Community Support Services

In addition to food distribution, the Healthy Living Program is rolling out a range of services aimed at enhancing community health and wellness. Residents can access free exercise rooms and participate in group fitness classes at the Healthy Living Centers. Nutrition consultations and monthly educational classes will also be available, providing valuable information on healthy eating and lifestyle choices.

For those requiring additional assistance, a network of local organizations stands ready to help. Resources such as ECHO, the United Food Bank of Plant City, and the St. Anne Catholic Church Food Pantry are instrumental in offering food and clothing support throughout Hillsborough County.

Residents interested in the food pantry events or other services can find further information on the Healthy Living Program’s website or contact the program directly. By fostering a supportive community environment, the Healthy Living Program and its partners aim to ensure that this holiday season is marked by joy and abundance for all.
