Gonzaga’s Mark Few Achieves 750th Win in Dominating 109-58 Triumph
UPDATE: Mark Few has made history! The head coach of No. 11 Gonzaga achieved his 750th career victory with a stunning 109-58 win over North Florida on December 3, 2023. This milestone makes Few the second-fastest coach to reach 750 wins, accomplishing the feat in just 904 games. He now trails only the legendary Adolph Rupp of Kentucky, who hit the mark in 902 games.
The victory took place in Spokane, Washington, where Gonzaga showcased their dominance from start to finish. Braden Huff led the Bulldogs with an impressive 24 points, while Tyon Grant-Foster contributed 19 points and Davis Fogle added 15 points. Gonzaga’s season record now stands at 9-1, demonstrating their resilience after a significant win against No. 18 Kentucky just days prior.
Despite the absence of scoring leader Graham Ike, who is sidelined with an ankle injury, Gonzaga’s performance left no room for doubt. The Bulldogs shot an astonishing 61% from the field, while holding North Florida to a mere 33%. Gonzaga also dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Ospreys 48-25.
The game shifted dramatically midway through the first half when Gonzaga led 31-22. Mario Saint-Supery ignited a spectacular 20-0 run with seven consecutive points. North Florida struggled to find the basket, going scoreless for over six minutes and missing nine straight shots, allowing Gonzaga to build a commanding 51-22 lead by halftime.
North Florida managed to score only 28 points by halftime, weighed down by ten turnovers and a shooting percentage that fell short of expectations. In stark contrast, Gonzaga shot 64% in the first half, a testament to their offensive prowess.
As the second half commenced, Gonzaga continued their onslaught with a quick 10-0 run, pushing their lead to 63-28. The Bulldogs will now prepare for a crucial matchup against UCLA on Saturday, December 9, 2023, in Seattle.
This victory not only marks a personal milestone for Coach Mark Few but also highlights Gonzaga’s continued excellence in college basketball. With an unbroken streak of NCAA Tournament appearances over 27 seasons, the Bulldogs are poised to make another significant run this year.
