Colorado Buffs Surge in Second Half, Defeat UTSA 88-64
UPDATE: The Colorado Buffaloes have bounced back decisively, dominating the second half to secure an impressive 88-64 victory over the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners at the CU Events Center earlier today. After a sluggish first half, the Buffs (9-1) found their rhythm, outscoring UTSA significantly after halftime.
The Buffaloes entered the second half with a narrow 35-32 lead, but quickly established control with a game-changing 17-2 run. Colorado shot an impressive 62.2% from the field after halftime, starkly contrasting their first-half performance where they allowed UTSA to shoot 46.4%. The Roadrunners struggled in the second half, managing only 33.3% from the field.
Point guard Barrington Hargress led the charge for Colorado, finishing with a season-high 23 points on 9-for-12 shooting, including five 3-pointers. His explosive performance was complemented by Sebastian Rancik, who contributed 15 points—with 12 of those coming in the second half—along with a team-high 7 rebounds. Bangot Dak also made a significant impact with 10 points, four assists, and two blocks.
With this victory, Colorado showcased their potential, particularly in rebounding, dominating the boards 48-32 against UTSA. This win comes on the heels of their first loss of the season, signaling their resilience and ability to rebound under pressure.
The Roadrunners, now 4-6, struggled offensively, with Javon Simpson leading their scoring efforts with 20 points. However, their overall performance lacked the consistency needed to compete with a fired-up Buffs squad.
As the season progresses, fans and analysts will be watching closely to see if Colorado can maintain this momentum heading into their next matchup. The Buffaloes appear poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming games, and today’s victory serves as a strong statement.
Stay tuned for more updates as Colorado continues their season.
