UPDATE: Belding Area Schools Superintendent Brent Noskey has just received an outstanding evaluation score of 99% in his annual review, confirmed during a school board meeting on July 10, 2023. This marks another impressive achievement in his decade-long leadership of the district.

In a unanimous vote, the Belding Area Schools Board of Education praised Noskey’s performance across multiple categories, including governance, community relations, and instructional leadership. Board President Terry Boni expressed satisfaction with Noskey’s continued effectiveness, stating, “We found Mr. Noskey just as effective as he was before.”

Noskey’s evaluation reflects a final weighted score of 2.98 out of 3, with the board’s approval underscoring his consistent performance. He achieved the top rating of 3 in four out of five evaluation categories, with only a slightly lower score of 2.86 in staff relations.

The superintendent’s enduring commitment to the district is evident. He has maintained strong financial stability, ensuring a general fund balance of 15% to 20% of annual expenditures, despite a 12% decline in student enrollment over the past nine years. His ability to foster community connections has been a significant factor in navigating the challenges posed by the pandemic and shifting demographics.

Boni noted, “His relationship with the staff has really shined… He’s hiring the right people, and I think that’s very important for the district.” Noskey’s proactive engagement in community events has set a new standard for leadership, enhancing the school district’s reputation.

In response to the positive evaluation, Noskey expressed gratitude for the support he receives from the board and his administrative team, stating, “I could not do this job without my administrative team… Being visible and creating relationships across the district helps the district get a positive name for itself.”

Under Noskey’s leadership, the district has successfully transitioned through various changes, including the shift to the current Black Knights nickname. He emphasizes the importance of community, saying, “There’s something special about Belding… We’re a family.”

Noskey, who currently earns a base salary of 157,725 USD, will not see changes to his contract following this evaluation. As he continues to lead Belding Area Schools, the board and community remain optimistic about the future, with a strong focus on maintaining the positive culture Noskey has cultivated.

As the school year progresses, all eyes will be on Noskey and the Belding Area Schools as they continue to adapt and thrive. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
