Headwaters Peace Center Hosts Inclusive Music Events for Community
The Headwaters Peace Center in Bemidji is set to host two engaging musical events aimed at fostering community connection and self-expression. On October 22, 2023, from 18:00 to 20:00, an Inclusive Songwriting Workshop will kick off the festivities, led by local musicians Myron Swimmer and Shannon Murray. This workshop welcomes participants of all abilities and experience levels, offering a supportive environment to explore songwriting as a means of personal expression and community building.
The workshop will emphasize collaboration and creativity, allowing attendees to work together in crafting their own songs. It aims to create an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable sharing their ideas and musical thoughts. Interested individuals are encouraged to RSVP in advance through the provided link: https://bit.ly/SingForInclusion.
Following the workshop, the Headwaters Peace Center will host an open stage concert on October 24, 2023, from 18:00 to 20:00. This event will feature performances by both Swimmer and Murray, alongside community members eager to showcase their talents through songs, poetry, and other forms of artistic expression.
Both events are free and open to the public, thanks to funding from the Region 2 Arts Council, which was made possible by a legislative appropriation from the Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund. This grant underscores the importance of arts and culture in building inclusive communities and enhancing the quality of life for residents in Minnesota.
The Headwaters Peace Center, located at 1826 Mikrantip Rd. SW, offers a welcoming space for individuals to come together and celebrate creativity. The center’s commitment to inclusivity is evident in its programming, inviting participants from diverse backgrounds to join in a shared musical journey.
As the community gears up for these exciting events, the Headwaters Peace Center stands as a beacon for artistic collaboration and expression, reinforcing the notion that music has the power to unite and uplift.
