Bulls’ Coby White Out at Least 2 Weeks, Missing Season Opener

URGENT UPDATE: Chicago Bulls guard Coby White will be sidelined for at least two more weeks, missing the highly anticipated regular-season opener against the Detroit Pistons this Wednesday. The team announced this critical news on Monday as White continues his recovery from a right calf strain.
White’s injury, sustained during an offseason workout in August, has kept him out of all preseason games. However, he took a significant step forward by practicing this past Saturday for the first time since training camp began. Despite this progress, White admitted that he still needs to improve his conditioning before returning to game action.
The Bulls initially expected White to be ready for the start of the season, but his continued absence raises concerns for the team’s offensive strategy. Over the past two seasons, White has become one of the Bulls’ most dependable scorers, averaging a career-high 20.4 points and 4.5 assists per game last season, alongside shooting 45% from the field and 37% from three-point range.
Entering the final year of his $36 million contract, White’s situation is not just about this season; it also impacts his upcoming free agency this summer. As he recuperates, the Bulls have relied on Tre Jones and Ayo Dosunmu to fill in the backcourt during preseason play.
The Bulls will be closely monitoring White’s progress as they prepare for their season opener. Fans and analysts alike will be watching to see how this impacts the team’s early performance in the 2025-26 NBA season.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing situation as the Bulls adjust to White’s absence.
