Baltimore Orioles Hire Craig Albernaz as New Manager Immediately
BREAKING: The Baltimore Orioles have just finalized a deal to hire Craig Albernaz as their new manager, aiming to revitalize the team after a challenging 2025 season. Sources confirm that Albernaz, a highly respected young coach, will take the helm following the firing of Brandon Hyde in mid-May after a dismal 15-28 start. The team appointed Tony Mansolino as interim manager, but the Orioles ended the season at 75-87, landing in last place in the American League East.
This managerial change comes at a pivotal time for the Orioles, who boast a promising lineup filled with young talent. Albernaz, 42, previously served as the associate manager for the Cleveland Guardians, who clinched the American League Central this year. His impressive track record includes a strong rapport with players and a deep understanding of the game, honed during his years as a catcher and coach.
Albernaz’s rise in the coaching ranks has been remarkable. After a nine-year career as a catcher, primarily with the Tampa Bay Rays, he transitioned into coaching in 2015. His experience managing in the minor leagues and his role with the San Francisco Giants further solidified his reputation as a potential future manager.
The Orioles are eager to capitalize on their young stars, including shortstop Gunnar Henderson, catcher Adley Rutschman, and outfielder Colton Cowser, among others. However, the team’s pitching remains a concern after a disappointing season. With left-hander Trevor Rogers showing promise and right-hander Kyle Bradish returning from injury, the pitching staff still needs significant improvement.
Albernaz faces an enormous challenge in the competitive AL East, which features powerhouse teams such as the reigning champion Toronto Blue Jays and the formidable New York Yankees. Fans are hopeful that Albernaz’s leadership will bring a much-needed turnaround to the franchise.
As this news develops, all eyes will be on Albernaz to see how he will mold the Orioles into contenders in an increasingly competitive division. The Orioles are set to make their first moves in preparation for the upcoming season, and Albernaz’s vision for the team will be crucial in shaping their future.
Stay tuned for updates on Albernaz’s plans and the Orioles’ upcoming offseason strategy.
