Spurs Rookie Dylan Harper Exits Game with Calf Injury
UPDATE: The San Antonio Spurs are facing a significant setback as rookie guard Dylan Harper suffered a calf injury during a game against the Phoenix Suns on July 15, 2025. The injury occurred in the second quarter while defending a dunk by Nick Richards, forcing Harper to exit the game.
Officials confirmed at halftime that Harper would not return, raising concerns about the team’s already limited depth at guard. This injury comes as the Spurs are still without veteran point guard De’Aaron Fox, who is sidelined this season due to a hamstring injury sustained before training camp.
Harper, just 19 years old, was making an impact before his exit, scoring 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting in just 11 minutes of play. His injury occurred with 5:02 left in the first half, when he landed awkwardly under the basket after attempting to block Richards’ dunk, which extended the Suns’ lead to 48-37.
The Spurs, competing at the Footprint Center, are already feeling the strain of their thin roster. Harper’s contributions had been vital, as he was ranked fourth on the team in scoring with an average of 14.4 points per game, along with 4.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.2 steals over his first five games.
This latest injury raises urgent questions about the Spurs’ ability to maintain their performance as they navigate the early part of the season. Fans and analysts alike will be closely monitoring updates on Harper’s condition and the potential timeline for his return.
As the situation develops, the Spurs will need to rally their remaining players and strategize effectively to fill the gaps left by their injured guards. Stay tuned for further updates on Harper and the Spurs’ season trajectory.
