San Ramon Valley Secures NCS Flag Football Title with Dramatic Comeback
UPDATE: In a stunning display of grit and determination, the San Ramon Valley Wolves clinched the inaugural North Coast Section Division I flag football championship on November 6, 2025, overcoming a second-half deficit to defeat Granada High School 14-7 at Clayton Valley Charter High School in Concord, California.
Led by freshman standout Tatum Prindiville, the Wolves showcased their resilience after initially trailing. Prindiville, who earned Most Valuable Player honors, caught two crucial touchdown passes while also making significant defensive plays. “We knew we had to come out with the fire,” Prindiville remarked, highlighting the team’s turnaround after halftime.
The game began with an impressive 31-yard touchdown pass from Granada’s Katie Vail to Marin Lnenicka, putting the Matadors ahead early. However, the Wolves’ defense quickly adjusted, stifling Granada’s offense for the remainder of the game.
In the second half, San Ramon Valley began to find its rhythm. They took the lead when sophomore Gia Ryan connected with Prindiville for a 27-yard touchdown pass, followed by a successful two-point conversion. The duo struck again in the fourth quarter, extending the lead with a 26-yard score on the first play of the final period.
“We have such a talented young squad,” said Chad Cochran, head coach of San Ramon Valley. “Knowing we can build on this success for next season is incredible.” The Wolves concluded the season with an impressive record of 18-6, firmly establishing their place at the top of the NCS flag football landscape.
As the celebration erupted on the field, Prindiville expressed her exhilaration, stating, “It was just amazing. We’re ready to do the same next year.” With their energetic performance and promising roster, San Ramon Valley is set to be a formidable contender in the upcoming seasons.
The victory marks a historic moment in California high school sports, as flag football continues to gain prominence. This championship win not only highlights the Wolves’ skill but also sets a precedent for future competitions in the rapidly evolving sport.
Fans and supporters are already looking forward to next year’s season, eager to see how this young team will build on their newfound momentum. San Ramon Valley’s triumph is not just a victory on the scoreboard, but a testament to the power of teamwork, communication, and relentless spirit.
