Gary Man Charged with Rape After Disturbing Incident in Apartment

URGENT UPDATE: A 43-year-old man from Gary, Corey Jones, has been charged with multiple serious offenses, including two counts of rape, after a harrowing incident involving his girlfriend in a senior apartment bathroom. The shocking events unfolded on November 3, 2023, when police were called to the scene on Broadway Avenue.

The victim reported that after she declined to perform a sex act for $10 requested by an older man present, Jones violently assaulted her. According to police reports, the woman was found “emotionally distressed” when officers arrived at the Gary Housing Authority’s Al Thomas Senior High Rise.

Jones has been charged with two counts each of rape, criminal confinement, domestic battery, as well as one count each of strangulation and intimidation. He is currently being held on a $12,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court on November 12 before Judge Gina Jones.

The disturbing details revealed that Jones choked the woman and raped her after forcing her into the bathroom. The altercation escalated after the couple spent the day together, which included a stop at a local hotel and several errands. At one point, while at a park, Jones allegedly threatened her life, saying, “I’ll show you how trash you are,” and later pushed her toward the apartment building where the attack occurred.

The woman recounted that the older man who initiated the transaction made derogatory comments about her, stating, “I know she’s a white girl, so I’ll (have sex with) her anyway.” After she refused, Jones reportedly threatened her life, saying, “If you don’t (have sex with) him, I’ll kill you.”

After the assault, where Jones took her underwear to eliminate his “DNA,” the victim managed to leave the apartment and called the police using a passerby’s cellphone. She disclosed to officers that this was not the first time Jones had assaulted her but had previously been too terrified to report him.
