Steph Curry Remains Out for Warriors Matchup Against Pacers
In a significant setback for the Golden State Warriors, Steph Curry has been ruled out for the team’s upcoming home game against the Indiana Pacers on March 15, 2024. After missing the previous two games due to an unspecified illness, Curry’s condition had shown signs of improvement, but he was downgraded to ‘out’ just two hours before the game, according to head coach Steve Kerr.
Curry initially played through the illness during the Warriors’ 118-107 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday. Despite contributing to the win, he was visibly unwell, with coughing and sniffles evident in the aftermath. Following that match, the 37-year-old guard opted to remain at home for the team’s subsequent road games against the Sacramento Kings and the Denver Nuggets, which resulted in losses for Golden State.
Warriors Struggle Without Their Star
The absence of Curry has had a notable impact on the Warriors’ performance. The team currently holds a record of 5-5 for the season, and they have struggled significantly without their two-time MVP. Historical data reflects this trend, as the Warriors have a concerning record of 74-113 in games where Curry does not participate.
Curry’s contributions to the team have been pivotal. During his eight starts this season, he has averaged 26.8 points and 4.3 assists per game. His unique skill set and leadership will be sorely missed as the Warriors prepare for a challenging road trip that begins against the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder. Following that contest, they will face the rising San Antonio Spurs, led by phenom Victor Wembanyama, along with games in New Orleans and back-to-back matchups against potential playoff contenders Orlando and Denver.
Pacers Face Their Own Challenges
The Indiana Pacers arrive in San Francisco with their own injury woes. Key players including Ben Mathurin, Pascal Siakam, Quenton Jackson, and Aaron Nesmith have been ruled out for the game. Additionally, star guard Tyrese Haliburton is sidelined for the remainder of the season due to an Achilles injury, further depleting the Pacers’ roster.
As both teams navigate their respective challenges, the matchup promises to be a test of depth and resilience. The Warriors will aim to regroup in Curry’s absence, while the Pacers will look to capitalize on the opportunity to secure a much-needed victory.
