Adopt a Pet: Meet Dexter, Butter Burger, Alfreda, and Leo Today
A variety of pets are currently available for adoption at the Anne Arundel County Animal Care and Control in Millersville, Maryland. Potential adopters can meet and interact with these animals during shelter hours, which are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesdays. The shelter is located at 411 Maxwell Frye Road, just off Interstate 97.
Among the adoptable pets is Dexter, a friendly two-year-old pitbull mix weighing approximately 45 lbs. Known for his playful spirit and love of snuggling, Dexter is currently thriving in a foster home with young children. Interested individuals can arrange a meeting by emailing [email protected].
Another appealing option is Butter Burger, a four-year-old American bulldog mix. Weighing in at 54 lbs, Butter Burger is an energetic dog seeking an active, adult-only household. The shelter encourages those interested in adopting Butter Burger to visit and meet him before the holiday season.
For cat lovers, Alfreda offers a warm and affectionate presence. This ten-year-old female cat enjoys curling up on laps and watching the world go by from a window. She is friendly and playful, and she manages her diabetes without the need for insulin. Those seeking more information about Alfreda can contact the shelter via the same email address.
The shelter is also home to Leo, an adult male rabbit. Leo is neutered and has a charming personality. He loves to engage with people and is particularly fond of jumping in and out of a box filled with tennis balls. Visitors are encouraged to speak with the front desk to meet Leo.
Adopting a pet not only brings companionship but also makes a significant difference in the lives of these animals. The adoption fees are set at $17 for dogs and $14 for younger cats. This fee includes essential services such as spaying or neutering, vaccinations, and a microchip. For older cats and other pets like guinea pigs and rabbits, adoption is free for qualified adopters.
The simple adoption requirements can be found on the Anne Arundel Animal Care & Control website under the “Adopt a Pet” section. Photographs of animals available for adoption are also displayed online, making it easier for potential adopters to find their perfect match.
Consider giving a loving animal a forever home this season. Every adoption helps to create space for more animals in need and brings joy to both the pet and the family.
