Clara Barton Medical Center Wins National Award for Patient Care
On National Rural Health Day, Clara Barton Medical Center in Hoisington, Kansas, announced that it has received the prestigious 2025 Performance Leadership Award for excellence in patient perspective. This award, presented by the Chartis Center for Rural Health, recognizes hospitals that rank in the top quartile for quality, outcomes, and patient perspectives among rural healthcare providers.
The Performance Leadership Awards are based on the findings of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance Index, a comprehensive assessment tool designed to evaluate the performance of rural hospitals. This index is essential for rural healthcare providers, healthcare systems, hospital associations, and state offices of rural health, as it benchmarks performance across various operational and financial metrics.
Recognition of Excellence in Rural Healthcare
“The areas of quality, outcomes, and patient perspective are cornerstones of healthcare delivery across rural America,” stated Michael Topchik, executive director of the Chartis Center for Rural Health. “This year’s recipients of the Performance Leadership Award are setting a standard of excellence for their rural peers.” Topchik emphasized the importance of recognizing such strong performance on National Rural Health Day.
Clara Barton Medical Center was one of only 28 hospitals in Kansas to receive this honor. In a statement, Jay Tusten, President and CEO of Clara Barton Medical Center, expressed pride in the recognition. “It is an honor to be recognized for our commitment to customer service,” Tusten remarked, highlighting the dedication of the staff. “Our staff consistently goes above and beyond to create a welcoming and supportive healthcare environment. We deeply appreciate their efforts and thank Chartis for celebrating that dedication.”
