BabyCenter Reveals Most Popular Baby Names for 2025
A recent report from BabyCenter, a prominent digital parenting resource, has unveiled the most popular baby names for 2025. Through an analysis of naming trends and cultural influences, BabyCenter identified the names that are gaining popularity and those that are declining. Notably, the data reflects an increasing trend among parents to draw inspiration from contemporary social influences for naming their children.
According to the report, Olivia continues to reign as the most popular name for baby girls, a position it has held since 2021. Meanwhile, Noah has secured its place as the top name for boys in 2025. The report highlights that new entries for girls include Eliana at number 7 and Aurora at number 9. In contrast, names like Ava and Luna, which were prominent in 2024, have fallen out of the top ten this year.
The top five boys’ names are led by Noah, followed by Liam, Oliver, Elijah, and Marco. Additionally, Luca made a notable entrance at number 10, while the name Leo has dropped from the top ten rankings. Other names like Ezra and Asher also made the list, indicating a diverse range of influences shaping naming choices.
Cultural factors play a significant role in these trends. BabyCenter reports that parents are increasingly influenced by pop culture, with names inspired by celebrities such as Beyoncé, characters from popular media like *The Summer I Turned Pretty*, and notable athletes from the NBA, WNBA, and NFL. The correlation between a celebrity’s public image and the popularity of names associated with them is evident; if a public figure experiences controversy, the name may see a significant decline in popularity.
Despite the rise of trendy names, traditional naming practices remain. Names that honor family members or close friends still hold value, though they are used less frequently than in the past. For instance, the name Joe ranks at number 64 in the 2025 list, reflecting a shift in naming conventions but still maintaining a place in the hearts of many parents.
For those interested in exploring more names and their rankings, BabyCenter provides comprehensive resources detailing the trends influencing baby names. This year’s findings illustrate not only the evolving landscape of baby naming but also how cultural moments resonate with new parents as they welcome their children into a changing world.
