Lee County to Distribute Free Parking Decals in Boca Grande

Parking permits will be distributed free of charge in Boca Grande, Florida, starting in mid-November. The Lee County Parks & Recreation Department is preparing to issue decals and placards to residents and visitors, with specific locations for distribution yet to be announced.
Betsy Clayton, the Communications Director for Lee County, confirmed the upcoming availability of these parking permits in a recent update to the Beacon. “Parks & Recreation is developing placards and decals; communication about their availability will be forthcoming,” she stated. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office will oversee enforcement of parking regulations, but a specific date for implementation has not been set until the necessary signage is installed and the decals are available.
Signage Installation Underway
In line with the new parking ordinance, the Department of Transportation has commenced the installation of signage across the island. A total of 441 signposts will support 751 signs, aimed at clearly marking parking regulations for residents and visitors. Installation began on October 16, 2023, and is expected to be completed by late November, potentially earlier if conditions permit.
Clayton also noted that any existing signs that conflict with the new parking plan will be removed. This effort is part of a broader initiative to improve parking management in Boca Grande, ensuring compliance with the updated regulations.
As the county prepares for the distribution of parking decals and placards, further details regarding the process and specific locations for pick-up will be shared with the community in the coming weeks. This initiative aims to enhance the parking experience for all users in the area while ensuring that regulations are enforced effectively.
