5 Seconds of Summer has achieved a significant milestone by securing the No. 1 position on the U.K. Albums Chart with their latest release, EVERYONE’S A STAR. This marks the fourth time in the band’s career that they have topped the chart. The latest data, dated November 21, 2023, indicates that their album has displaced Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl, which previously held the top spot.

Chart Performance and Historic Achievements

Comprising members Calum Hood, Ashton Irwin, Luke Hemmings, and Michael Clifford, 5 Seconds of Summer has previously reached No. 1 with their albums Sounds Good Feels Good (2015), CALM (2020), and 5SOS5 (2022). In addition to the U.K. success, EVERYONE’S A STAR is also leading the Official Record Store Chart, which tracks the most popular albums in U.K. independent record shops.

In their home country of Australia, the band has made history by becoming the first act to achieve No. 1 status with their first six studio albums on the ARIA Charts. This unprecedented accomplishment underscores their enduring appeal and commercial success.

Other Notable Chart Movements

Following 5 Seconds of Summer, Olivia Dean occupies the No. 2 position with her album The Art of Loving. Dean’s recent performance on Saturday Night Live on November 15, where she showcased her songs “Man I Need” and “So Easy (to Fall in Love With Me),” likely contributed to her album’s strong showing.

Taylor Swift falls to No. 3 with The Life of a Showgirl, which has already enjoyed four non-consecutive weeks at the top of the U.K. Albums Chart. The U.K. rap duo D-Block Europe continues their momentum with PTSD 2, landing at No. 4, marking their fifth top-five album in six years.

Completing the top five is Sabrina Carpenter with her album Man’s Best Friend, which rounds out a competitive week for new music. Noteworthy debuts include a reissue of Oasis’s Familiar To Millions live LP at No. 11, Celeste’s sophomore album Woman Of Faces at No. 12, and Summer Walker’s Finally Over It at No. 13.

As excitement grows around new artists, U.K. rapper EsDeeKid continues to gain traction, with his album Rebel rising three places to No. 16, spurred by fan speculation regarding his potential connection to actor Timothée Chalamet.

With a vibrant music scene, the U.K. charts reflect diverse tastes and the dynamic nature of the industry, as artists continue to vie for the top positions in a rapidly changing landscape.
