Aespa’s Winter Absent from Concert Due to Health Concerns
Fans of the K-pop group aespa expressed outrage after member Winter was unable to perform at the group’s concert in Thailand on November 16, 2025. The concert, part of their third world tour, SYNK: aeXIS LINE, took place at the renowned Impact Arena in Bangkok. Just hours before the event, SM True Thailand announced that Winter would miss the sound check due to health issues, later clarifying that she would not participate in the concert at all.
According to SM True Thailand, Winter visited the hospital on November 15 and was diagnosed with “cold and flu-like symptoms.” The company stated, “We regret to decide that it would not be possible for her to participate in today’s sound check and concert. This decision has been made with the artist’s health and well-being as our top priority.”
The announcement quickly led to frustration among fans, who accused SM Entertainment of neglecting the health of its artists. Many pointed out that aespa has been on a demanding performance schedule, with Winter’s absence highlighting concerns about the pressure placed on the group.
Fans took to social media, expressing their disappointment and emphasizing the need for a more balanced schedule. One user remarked, “SM planned an insanely packed schedule for the girls with zero regard for their health.” Another noted the rigorous schedule, stating, “Flying the girls from Asia to the US and straight back to Asia in less than five days like they’re cargo, not humans.”
Winter’s health concerns are particularly poignant given her medical history. In early 2024, she underwent surgery for a collapsed lung, a procedure that typically requires several weeks of recovery. Despite this, fans observed her visibly struggling during the previous concert, where she was seen catching her breath frequently.
The concert in Thailand marked aespa’s 11th performance in just six weeks, following a busy series of shows, including a performance at Amazon Music Live in Los Angeles on November 14. After that event, the members had to endure a lengthy flight to Bangkok, raising further concerns about their well-being.
Several fans noted that Winter appeared unwell during the concert preceding her absence. “We could really tell she was sick yesterday, but she still performed so well,” one fan commented, praising her dedication despite her condition.
Additionally, reports indicated that fellow member Karina was also unwell during the concert, with fans observing her coughing throughout the event. This has compounded worries among the aespa fandom, who have repeatedly called for SM Entertainment to prioritize the health and safety of its artists.
The ongoing health issues faced by aespa members prompt a broader discussion about the pressures in the K-pop industry. Fans are urging the company to adopt a more humane approach to scheduling, allowing adequate time for rest and recovery. As the group continues its world tour, many hope that Winter—and the rest of aespa—will receive the care and consideration they deserve as performers and individuals.
