D’Angelo Harris Unveils Insights on Upcoming Series Pilot “Common Ground”
Director and producer D’Angelo Harris recently shared insights during an interview about his upcoming pilot “Common Ground,” a film that explores human connection and the importance of understanding others. The project centers on a power outage that sparks interaction among neighbors, illustrating how lack of communication can hinder empathy and understanding. Harris noted, “In the day to day, you got people that walk around that don’t talk to each other, so how will you [ever] know what somebody’s going through?”
The narrative unfolds through the characters’ conversations and their responses to the challenges posed by the blackout. The audience becomes familiar with these individuals as they navigate their circumstances, revealing deeper layers of their lives.
Star-Studded Cast and Funding Success
The cast features notable actors Lillo Brancato and Taral Hicks, both known for their roles in “Bronx Tale.” Harris expressed gratitude for their involvement, stating, “I’m grateful and forever indebted to them.”
Funding for the project has been a significant achievement, with the team successfully raising $15,000 to produce the trailer. This pilot marks Harris’s first major project since graduating from Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida, where he directed three earlier films. He aims to continue the momentum by producing a second episode once financial backing is secured.
Harris envisions the series not only as a creative venture but also as a catalyst for job creation and business opportunities in the community. He is simultaneously working on a documentary that chronicles the journey of this project.
Premiere Plans and Distribution Prospects
As the pilot enters post-production, Harris is optimistic about potential distribution deals. While he has received interest from a few distributors, non-disclosure agreements prevent him from disclosing further details at this time.
Those eager to see “Common Ground” will have the opportunity to attend its premiere at The Rylander Theatre in Americus. Following the premiere, additional screenings are planned as part of a marketing strategy aimed at attracting a wider audience before submitting the film to various festivals.
Harris’s project encapsulates the essence of community and connection, promising to resonate with viewers and leave a lasting impact. As he continues to develop “Common Ground,” the future appears bright for both the film and its creator.
