New Details Surface on Resident Evil 0 Remake Targeting 2028 Release

Rumors surrounding a potential remake of the classic horror game Resident Evil 0 have gained traction, with reports indicating that the project is currently referred to as Project Chamber. According to sources cited by MP1st, the remake is slated for a release window in 2028, generating excitement among fans of the franchise.
The name Project Chamber is believed to reference Rebecca Chambers, the game’s protagonist, and suggests that the storyline will unfold just prior to her arrival at the infamous Spencer Mansion from the original Resident Evil. The title first appeared on the resume of actor Jon McLaren, although it has reportedly been removed since then. While McLaren is known for voicing Star-Lord in Square Enix’s Guardians of the Galaxy and contributing to Far Cry 5, details regarding his specific role in Resident Evil 0 remain unclear.
Expanded Story and New Characters
The remake is expected to introduce an expanded narrative that includes new characters. Notably, one character will be the train conductor involved in the game’s opening sequence, where the train crashes due to a zombie outbreak. This character is anticipated to have a minor role, including a moment where they lock Rebecca in a room filled with zombies to ensure their own escape.
In addition to new characters, the motion capture for the remake is being handled by Beyond Capture Studios. This company has previously collaborated with Capcom on other titles utilizing the RE Engine, such as Street Fighter 6 and the recent Resident Evil 4 remake.
While the exact details of the refurbished plot remain under wraps, the potential for a more intricate storyline has fans eager. DuskGolem, a notable insider on X (formerly Twitter), has also hinted at another upcoming remake, specifically Resident Evil: Code Veronica, which is reportedly targeting a release in the first quarter of 2027.
With an array of updates and anticipated releases in the pipeline, including Resident Evil Requiem set for 2026, the survival horror genre is poised for an exciting few years. As more information becomes available, fans of the franchise will be watching closely to see how the new remake takes shape and whether it meets the high expectations set by its predecessors.
