Todd Grisham Shares WWE Hazing Experience Amid Controversial Comments
Former WWE announcer Todd Grisham recently opened up about his experiences within the wrestling organization, detailing instances of hazing he faced after allegedly referring to wrestling as “fake.” During an episode of Chris Van Vliet‘s ‘Insight’ show, Grisham shared that the legendary Vince McMahon even encouraged his seemingly uninterested commentary style, specifically during the return of wrestler Christian in the old ECW brand.
The incident began with The Brooklyn Brawler, who reportedly spread rumors among the roster regarding Grisham’s comments about the authenticity of wrestling. This led to some light-hearted teasing from fellow wrestlers, but things escalated when Bubba Ray Dudley took the matter seriously. Grisham described Dudley as “the biggest a**hole the WWE has ever seen” and recounted how Dudley demanded an apology from him, insisting he should address each member of the roster individually.
Grisham explained that Dudley confronted him aggressively, stating, “You don’t belong here. You should never be hired.” Confused by the intensity of Dudley’s reaction, Grisham initially thought the wrestler might be joking. However, he found Dudley to be completely serious, which only increased the tension in the locker room.
The situation took a turn when fellow wrestler Batista was encouraged by others to participate in the hazing. Grisham described a harrowing experience in which Batista attempted to powerbomb him, despite Grisham’s lack of formal training. He noted that Batista not only positioned him for the move but also “grabbed my underwear and freaking ripped them straight up.” The aftermath was alarming for Grisham, who revealed that he ended up with injuries that left him “scared to death” and with “freaking butt crack bleeding afterward, raw as hell.”
Adding to the atmosphere of intimidation, Hardcore Holly, known for his tough persona, confronted Grisham post-hazing. He reportedly shouted, “You think this is fake? I’ll kill you in the parking lot right now,” further underscoring the serious nature of the hazing culture that Grisham encountered during his time with WWE.
These revelations from Grisham shed light on the often-unspoken experiences of those within the wrestling industry. The incidents highlight a culture that can sometimes blur the lines between camaraderie and intimidation, raising questions about the treatment of talent in a high-pressure environment.
