Todd Stashwick, known for his role as Captain Liam Shaw in *Star Trek: Picard*, has expressed interest in reprising his character for the anticipated spinoff, *Star Trek: Legacy*. Stashwick indicated his willingness to return, provided that the project meets high expectations and features the right team. During an event at STLV: Trek to Vegas in August, both Stashwick and showrunner Terry Matalas hinted at the possibility of Shaw returning as an Emergency Engineering Hologram, humorously referred to as a “Shawlogram.”

In *Star Trek: Picard* Season 3, Shaw met a tragic end at the hands of the Borg, leaving fans eager for more from the character. Stashwick stated, “I love workin’. I love the character of Shaw. I love the *Star Trek* universe, and I love all the people that… If someone chooses to greenlight this project, and fills it with all the people that the Legacy show would have: Jeri Ryan, Michelle Hurd, Ed Speleers, Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut, Mica Burton, I would love to work with those people. If that means appearing as a hologram, and it contributes to my health and pension, I’m there.”

The excitement surrounding *Star Trek: Legacy* stems from its potential to continue the narrative established in *Star Trek: Picard*’s finale. Fans are looking for a seamless transition that retains the creative vision of Matalas and the ensemble cast.

Creative Development of Star Trek: Legacy

At the same event, Matalas revealed that he has drafted approximately 30 pages for the pilot episode of *Star Trek: Legacy*. The new series would feature Jeri Ryan as Captain Seven of Nine and Ed Speleers as Ensign Jack Crusher, reuniting key characters from *Star Trek: Picard*. Matalas also teased that Klingons are expected to play a significant role in the upcoming series.

After the acclaim garnered by *Star Trek: Picard* Season 3 from both critics and audiences, Matalas has taken on a new role at Marvel Studios as an executive producer for the upcoming project *Vision Quest*, which marks the return of Paul Bettany as the character Vision. Stashwick is also slated to appear in this Marvel series, showcasing his versatility across different franchises.

There remains a sense of hope that the new management at Paramount Skydance, which is prioritizing fresh *Star Trek* projects, will consider moving forward with *Star Trek: Legacy*. Fans are eager for a continuation of the USS Enterprise-G saga initiated in the finale of *Star Trek: Picard*. As Stashwick emphasized, any future iteration must include all essential elements and personnel to ensure its success.

The intersection of nostalgia and innovation within the *Star Trek* franchise has always captivated audiences. As developments unfold, both Stashwick’s enthusiasm and Matalas’s creative direction will be pivotal in determining the future of *Star Trek: Legacy* and its place in the storied *Star Trek* universe.
