Beloved Educator Carole L. Rish Passes Away at 86
Carole L. Rish, aged 86, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, at the Allied Services Hospice Center after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born on August 23, 1939, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Carole was the daughter of the late Anna (Brindle) Ziegler and Pastor Phillip Ziegler. Her life was marked by a passion for education, physical fitness, and a love for dance and gymnastics.
Carole’s educational journey began at East Stroudsburg University, where she earned a degree in teaching. During her time there, she was also a talented gymnast, representing the university’s traveling gymnastics team. Her enthusiasm for physical education motivated her to teach and coach gymnastics and cheerleading across various school districts. Ultimately, she found her calling at the Greater Nanticoke Area School District.
As an elementary physical education teacher, Carole made a lasting impact on her students. She introduced them to line dancing and square dancing, often using an eclectic mix of music, with Neil Diamond being one of her favorites. Her dedication to her students was evident, and she received heartfelt recognition from former students, including a nurse who cared for her on her last day, acknowledging the positive influence she had on their lives.
Carole’s legacy extends beyond her professional achievements. She is remembered fondly by her family, including her daughters, Lisa Moyer and Kimberly (Moyer) Czapracki, along with her brothers, Jack Ziegler and David Ziegler. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her son, David W. Moyer, and several other family members, including her infant sister, Marlene Ziegler.
Before her diagnosis with Parkinson’s Disease, Carole was known for her adventurous spirit and love for life. Her summers spent working in Ocean City, New Jersey, contributed to a treasure trove of cherished memories. Colleagues and friends remember her as a vibrant personality, filled with joy and humor, who brought happiness to those around her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nanticoke Christian Fellowship, a church that held significance in her life. Visitation will occur on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Dinelli Family Funeral Home, located at 170 East Broad St., Nanticoke. A memorial service will follow, officiated by Pastor David Pegarella of the Nanticoke Christian Fellowship. The family plans to announce a celebration of life gathering at a later date for all who wish to attend.
For those wishing to express their condolences or share memories, the family invites you to visit the funeral home’s website at www.dinellifuneralhome.com. Carole L. Rish will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
