Explore Precision Medicine’s Impact on Age-Related Neurological Diseases

A free webinar titled “The Evolution of Precision Medicine in Age-Related Neurological Diseases” will be held on November 7, 2025, at 11:00 EST (17:00 CET). This event, hosted by Xtalks, aims to highlight how precision medicine strategies, focusing on biomarkers and targeted therapies, are enhancing treatment for older adults suffering from neurological diseases.
Older adults often face significant barriers in clinical research, primarily due to the complexity of age-related neurological disorders and the biological variability within this population. The upcoming webinar will delve into how precision medicine can address these challenges. By sub-classifying complex conditions and aligning trial strategies with the specific biological and experiential realities of aging, researchers can improve clinical outcomes.
During the session, experts from the PPD clinical research business of Thermo Fisher Scientific will provide insights into the latest advancements in biomarker science. Speakers include Panos Papanastasopoulos, Associate Medical Director; Debra Schaumberg, ScD, OD, MPH, Vice President & Global Head of Strategic Development; John Hamlet, Executive Director of Neuroscience; Sabine Krofczik-Wilhelm, PhD, Executive Director and Pillar Head of Neurodegenerative and Psychiatry; and Alberto Lledó, MD, PhD, Vice President and Therapeutic Area Head for Neuroscience.
The discussion will emphasize the importance of patient-centric trial design. Older adults often contend with mobility issues, comorbidities, and increased sensitivity to treatment side effects. These factors necessitate a thoughtful approach to trial design, which may include simplifying protocols, reducing participant burden, and adjusting dosing levels. By prioritizing the needs of older patients, researchers can bridge efficacy gaps and facilitate the development of meaningful therapies for this frequently underrepresented demographic.
The webinar will also focus on disease-specific biomarkers and how they are redefining patient populations in areas such as cognitive decline, movement disorders, and neuro-ophthalmology. By concentrating on sub-classification and related endpoints, clinical trials can become more precise, enhancing the evaluation of emerging therapies, including innovative cell and gene treatments.
Interested participants can register for the webinar and learn how patient-centric approaches are reshaping the landscape of precision medicine for age-related neurological conditions. For more information and to secure a spot, visit the Xtalks website.
