The community is invited to participate in special candlelight services this Christmas, organized by the Children’s Bereavement Centre. These annual Christmas Candlelight Services provide a supportive environment for families to reflect on and honor their loved ones who are no longer with them.

This year, two services are scheduled: the first will take place at St Giles Church in Balderton on December 4 at 18:30, while the second is set for St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Mansfield on December 9, also at 18:30. Both events are free of charge and designed to be family-friendly, creating a space for collective remembrance.

During the services, attendees will engage in candle lighting, listen to readings, and enjoy hymns alongside Christmas songs. The Balderton service will feature special performances from local choirs, including Norwell Village Voices, Chuter Ede Primary School, and Barnby Road Choirs. The events will conclude with refreshments, including hot chocolate and mince pies, fostering a sense of community and shared experience.

Everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of prior involvement with the Children’s Bereavement Centre. For individuals unable to join in person, the Centre has created a virtual option where loved ones can be remembered through a Christmas Candlelight Tribute Page. This online platform allows participants to light a virtual candle and pay their respects remotely, with details available at: https://christmascandlelight.memorypage.org/.

For those wishing to have their loved one’s name read aloud during the service, contact Julie at 01636 551739 or via email at [email protected]. The Children’s Bereavement Centre aims to provide comfort and a moment of reflection during a time when the absence of loved ones is felt most acutely.

These candlelight services represent an opportunity for the community to come together, offering solace and remembrance. The Children’s Bereavement Centre encourages participation in these meaningful events, reinforcing the importance of honoring those we have lost during the festive season.
