Joyce K. Ellsworth, aged 78, passed away on October 15, 2025, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. Born on November 27, 1946, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, to parents Julius and Leona Janke, Joyce’s life was characterized by her deep connections with family and her active lifestyle.

Raised in Lake Park, Joyce completed her high school education before relocating to Fargo. There, she began her career as a housekeeper at the Donaldson Hotel, where she worked for many years until health issues forced her to retire. Known for her vibrant spirit, Joyce enjoyed biking around town and remained active for as long as her health allowed.

Her love for music and cooking was a significant part of her identity. Joyce particularly enjoyed preparing goulash, a dish she often shared with family and friends. Time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was especially cherished, further highlighting her commitment to family bonds.

Family Legacy and Tributes

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Wanda Erdmann, along with her grandchildren, Ashlee, Taylor, and Jadyn, and great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Sky, Jerzee, and Oaklee. She also leaves behind her siblings: Jeanette Gunderson, Janice Longtine, Julian Janke, and Jill Herbert, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Julius and Leona, her great-grandson, Easton, and several siblings, including Julie Harrison, Jerome Janke, Jean Gable, and Jerry Janke, along with brother-in-law Richard Gunderson.
