Community Mourns the Passing of Susan Kay Duncan, 74
Susan Kay Duncan, aged 74, of Ossian, Indiana, passed away on November 25, 2025. She dedicated her life to her family and Christian faith, leaving behind a legacy of love and service.
Born on March 6, 1951, to the late Paul and Mary Jane Double, Susan graduated from Norwell High School in 1969. Following her education, she worked as a physical therapy assistant at the former Lutheran Hospital Moellering unit located on Fairfield Avenue in Fort Wayne.
A Life of Service and Family
For over three decades, she was actively involved in the family business, the Double catering and reception hall, known as Lighted Acres, in Ossian. Susan’s commitment to her community extended through her outreach ‘greeting card’ ministry and her creative endeavors, including making memorial floral grave ‘saddles’.
On August 1, 1971, Susan married Danny Lynn Duncan, with whom she shared 30 years of marriage until his passing in 2002. Together, they nurtured a loving family, which Susan cherished deeply.
She is survived by her children, Paul Travis Duncan (Megan) of Paducah, Kentucky, and Brandy Duncan-White of Greenfield, Indiana. Additionally, she leaves behind three granddaughters, Alexis Flake (Trace), Savanah White, and Kayla Lopez (Anthony), along with two great-grandsons, Theo and Isaiah. Her siblings, Linda Schorr and Shirley Hillman (Douglas), both of Ossian, and Steven P. Double (Carla) of Litchfield Park, Arizona, also survive her.
Remembering Susan’s Legacy
Throughout her life, Susan found joy in simple pleasures, including the time spent with her grandchildren and her dog, Rain, who was her constant companion. Her life was characterized by her unwavering faith and commitment to her loved ones.
A private graveside service will be scheduled at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in New Haven at a later date. Those wishing to express their condolences can do so online at www.elzey-patterson-rodak.com.
Susan Kay Duncan’s passing marks a significant loss to her family and community, where she will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and love.
