Tifton Firefighters Achieve Certification in Aerial Ladder Training
The Tifton Fire Department celebrated the graduation of sixteen firefighters from the Apparatus Operator/Aerial Ladder Training (AOPL) course on October 16, 2025. This specialized training equips firefighters with the skills necessary to operate aerial apparatus, such as ladder trucks, effectively and safely.
Comprehensive Training for Firefighters
The AOPL course focuses on essential topics including the construction and functionality of pumps, correct positioning of apparatus, and maintenance and testing of fire equipment. This training adheres to the rigorous standards set forth by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1002.
Under the guidance of Tifton Training Lieutenant Jacob Carter, the recent class achieved an impressive 100% pass rate. The group comprised five lieutenants and eleven firefighters who have now officially become certified in aerial apparatus operation.
The city emphasized its commitment to providing top-tier fire protection services to its residents. A press release stated, “The Tifton Fire Department is committed to providing citizens with the best fire protection service possible. This is accomplished by maintaining a staff of highly trained personnel, trained in different aspects and scenarios, such as AOPL.”
Investment in Community Safety
The Tifton Fire Department currently operates three fire stations throughout the city, ensuring comprehensive coverage and rapid response capabilities. The training not only enhances the skills of the firefighting staff but also reinforces the department’s dedication to community safety.
