Ciara Opens Up About Parenting Fears and Staying Connected
Singer and actress Ciara recently discussed her parenting challenges during an interview on the “Angie Martinez IRL” podcast. The 40-year-old mother of four expressed her greatest fear regarding the information her children are exposed to in today’s digital age. She emphasized the importance of staying engaged with current trends to better guide her kids.
During the conversation, Ciara highlighted the high volume of information available to children today. “This world is like bananas,” she stated, advocating for a more involved parenting approach. She described herself as a “partial” helicopter mom who prefers to be actively involved in her children’s lives. “You’ve got to be locked in even more now because the access is so high,” she added, revealing her concerns about outside influences shaping her children’s perspectives.
As a mother of four, which includes a son with rapper Future and three children with her husband, New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson, Ciara aims to stay connected with her kids. “I want to be aware of what’s happening in their world,” she said. Reflecting on her own upbringing, she noted the importance of understanding her children’s experiences to foster open communication.
Ciara explained her desire for her children to feel comfortable discussing their thoughts and feelings with her. “I also want to make sure I’m thinking about what I could have done better to serve them better,” she said. This approach, she believes, empowers her children and prepares them for the challenges they will face as they grow older.
In her interview, Ciara expressed her pride in moments where she can share important information with her children before they hear it elsewhere. “I feel really proud sometimes when you beat the world to telling your kids something,” she remarked. These conversations, she believes, help to armor them for the outside world.
Earlier this year, in an interview with Parents magazine, Ciara shared her hopes for her daughters to cultivate their own self-worth. “I want my girls to know that they’re not limited by their gender or the color of their skin,” she stated, emphasizing the importance of resilience and self-esteem.
In an August feature with Vogue, Ciara reflected on how motherhood has transformed her view of her career. “When I first began, I’m in an industry where it was taboo to have a child,” she said. She noted the stigma surrounding motherhood in the entertainment world, where having a child could lead to negative perceptions regarding a woman’s focus and age.
Ciara’s journey through motherhood has been integral to her identity and career aspirations. “Having my babies and being on this journey to go after all that I’m trying to achieve has just been one of the coolest things,” she concluded, highlighting the rewarding aspects of balancing her professional and personal life.
Through her candid discussions, Ciara continues to inspire others by sharing her parenting experiences and the lessons she learns along the way.
