A significant construction project affecting the westbound lane of the Schuylkill Expressway is scheduled to commence on the night of March 10, 2024. The work will close westbound Interstate 76 between 30th Street and the Vine Street Expressway. This initiative is part of the ongoing Market Street Bridge construction and is expected to continue until June 2024.

The construction will take place during the overnight hours, specifically from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Motorists will need to adjust their routes, as they will be directed to exit at 30th Street. From there, they can travel west on Schuylkill Avenue to access ramps to both I-76 West and I-676 East.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has emphasized the importance of this project for improving infrastructure and ensuring the safety of commuters. The Market Street Bridge is a crucial connection in the area, and its enhancement will provide long-term benefits once completed.

Drivers are advised to plan accordingly, as delays are anticipated during the construction period. The project aims to minimize disruption, but users of the Schuylkill Expressway should allow extra travel time to navigate the detours effectively.

As Philadelphia continues to invest in its infrastructure, the completion of the Market Street Bridge will not only improve traffic flow but also contribute to the overall development of the region. With the construction schedule now in place, the city encourages residents to stay informed about updates related to the project.
