Nancy Mace Criticizes Police Officers at Charleston Airport
On the morning of October 31, 2025, South Carolina Republican Representative Nancy Mace reportedly confronted police officers at Charleston International Airport, expressing her frustration in strong terms. According to a police report, Mace became irate after officers failed to identify her vehicle, which was a gray or silver BMW rather than the expected white BMW.
The incident began when officers stationed at the airport’s ticketing area from 06:20 never spotted the vehicle they had been advised to look for. It was only when dispatch informed them at 07:00 that Mace had reached the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint that they encountered her in a visibly upset state. The police report details that she began to vocally criticize the officers, using profanity and derogatory remarks.
Details of the Incident
Officer A. Reed documented that Mace repeatedly called the officers “fucking incompetent” and emphasized that “this is no way to treat a fucking US Representative.” During the walk to gate B-8, Mace allegedly continued to curse. Officer E.C. Southers confirmed that Mace compared her treatment unfavorably to that of fellow South Carolina senator Tim Scott, stating he would not be subjected to such behavior.
An American Airlines gate agent, who witnessed the exchange, expressed disbelief at Mace’s conduct. TSA Supervisor Johnny Lynch reported similar interactions, indicating that Mace had addressed TSA agents in a comparable manner and intended to escalate the matter to his superiors.
Reactions and Responses
The incident drew public attention, particularly from South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, who is challenging Mace in the upcoming Republican gubernatorial primary. Wilson criticized her behavior, stating, “Law enforcement and TSA agents show up every day to protect the public, and right now they’re not even getting paid. They deserve respect and appreciation. Not profanity. Not threats. Not tantrums.”
In response to Wilson’s comments, Mace took to social media platform X, suggesting that he focus more on prosecuting criminals rather than “spying on me at the airport.” The exchange highlights the tension between Mace and Wilson, particularly as both navigate their political ambitions in South Carolina.
The Daily Caller has reached out to both Mace’s office and the Charleston County Aviation Authority Police Department for further comments regarding the incident.
