Aaron Paul Declines Return to ‘Invincible’ as Powerplex
BREAKING: Aaron Paul has officially confirmed he will not be returning to his role as Powerplex in the hit animated series Invincible. The announcement came during a recent episode of the Kinda Funny podcast, where Paul revealed he turned down an offer to reprise the role for future seasons due to the emotional toll it took on him.
Paul, who gained fame from his portrayal of Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad, voiced Powerplex, a supervillain driven by a tragic backstory involving the deaths of his sister and niece during the intense battle between Invincible and Omni-Man in season one. Paul described the experience of playing Powerplex as “too grueling” and expressed his discomfort with the role, stating, “What it did to me, I didn’t like.”
The character of Powerplex made a notable debut in the season three episode titled “All I Can Say is Sorry,” where he tragically kills his wife and son during a confrontation with Invincible. This dark turn left the protagonist, Mark, in a deeply emotional state, which resonated with viewers. Powerplex continued his storyline in the subsequent episode “What Have I Done?”, where he sought vengeance against alternate universe variants of Invincible.
While Paul’s absence from the series will be felt, fans can expect to see Powerplex continue to play a significant role in the Invincible universe, albeit with a new voice actor. The character will remain a formidable threat for Mark and others in upcoming storylines, as he appears throughout the comics.
Invincible is set to return for its highly anticipated fourth season in March 2024, promising to deliver more intense action and emotional storytelling.
For those eager to hear Aaron Paul in a more uplifting superhero role, he is currently featured in AdHoc Studio’s Dispatch, which has recently been nominated for accolades at the Game Awards.
As fans digest this news, the buzz surrounding Invincible continues to grow, making it a hot topic for discussions among audiences worldwide. Stay tuned for more updates as they develop.
