Blackstone Unveils Hilarious Holiday Video for 40th Anniversary
UPDATE: Blackstone has just released its highly anticipated annual holiday video, celebrating the firm’s 40th anniversary with a nostalgic twist featuring iconic 80s references. Dropped today, the video showcases a remarkable cast of approximately 400 employees, a significant increase from just 20 in 2018, and is already causing a stir both within the firm and in client boardrooms.
This year’s production is a playful homage to the past, filled with self-deprecating humor and memorable performances. Executives from the firm, including Zaneta Koplewicz and Dan Leiter, shared their exhilarating experiences of filming, which took place in late November and early December, fitting into their hectic schedules.
Koplewicz, who executed the iconic lift from “Dirty Dancing,” described her casting as a mix of dread and excitement. “After the shoot happened, I asked, ‘Who would have done this if not me?'” she reflected, emphasizing the fun atmosphere that permeated the filming process. Her background as a former ballet dancer at Princeton played a crucial role in her selection for this pivotal scene.
Meanwhile, Leiter, the firm’s head of international for credit and insurance, expressed his gratitude for being chosen to participate in the video during his first year at Blackstone. “I could tell it was a real privilege to be part of this video,” he said, highlighting the camaraderie among colleagues that this tradition fosters.
The video also features Mike Forman, who humorously discovers through a calendar invite that he will have to fire documentary filmmaker Ken Burns. “I wonder how I’ll be embarrassing myself this year?” was his initial thought, showcasing the lighthearted spirit of the project.
Filming wrapped up quickly, with many scenes shot back-to-back, leading to a lively environment where colleagues donned outrageous costumes. “We were trying our best to be actors, which is definitely not our day job,” Forman said, underscoring the unique blend of fun and professionalism that characterizes Blackstone’s holiday tradition.
Audience reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. Leiter’s children have become “addicted” to the holiday videos, demanding to watch every release. Koplewicz recalled a touching moment when a friend shared last year’s video in a group chat, bringing her unexpected recognition among new parents.
This year’s holiday video is already making waves in client interactions. “Last week, I was in the Middle East, and a couple of clients asked when the video was coming out so they could bookmark the date,” Leiter shared, reflecting the growing cultural significance of this annual tradition.
As Blackstone continues to engage its employees and clients through creative outlets like this holiday video, the firm showcases a unique blend of corporate culture and entertainment. With its impressive cast and nostalgic themes, this year’s production is set to be one of the most talked-about yet.
Stay tuned for further updates on Blackstone’s holiday video as it garners attention across social media and beyond. Don’t miss out on the chance to join in on the fun and share your thoughts on this year’s hilarious showcase!
