Blue Jays’ Springer Returns; Dodgers Shift Betts for Game 6
UPDATE: In a pivotal moment for the 2025 World Series, designated hitter George Springer returns to the Toronto Blue Jays lineup, aiming to clinch the championship against the Los Angeles Dodgers. This urgent Game 6 is set for Friday, October 20, 2025, as the Blue Jays lead the series 3-2.
Springer, who missed the last two games due to a right side muscle strain, will take the leadoff spot, a critical role as the Blue Jays strive for their first World Series title since 1993. “He was right on the fence for Game 5,” Blue Jays manager John Schneider stated, highlighting the excitement around Springer’s return.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers are making strategic changes to their batting order in hopes of staving off elimination. Mookie Betts has been shifted to cleanup, marking his lowest batting position since September 2017. This comes after Betts struggled significantly, going 3-for-23 in the World Series, including an 0-for-4 performance with two strikeouts in Game 5.
The Dodgers, who were limited to just three runs and ten hits in their last two games, are desperate for an offensive spark. By moving Betts down the order, they aim to revitalize their batting lineup for this critical matchup.
With Springer’s impressive record of 63 leadoff home runs, second only to Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson, his return is a major boost for Toronto. His recent performance includes a three-run homer in the ALCS Game 7 against the Seattle Mariners, which propelled the Blue Jays into the World Series.
The atmosphere is electric as Toronto prepares for a potential championship celebration. If the Blue Jays secure a win, they will take home their first title since 1993. However, a victory for the Dodgers would force a decisive Game 7, the first since 2019, keeping all fans on the edge of their seats.
As the teams gear up for this must-watch Game 6, fans are eager to see if Springer can lead the Blue Jays to victory and if Betts can break free from his slump to save the Dodgers’ season. Stay tuned for real-time updates as this thrilling World Series unfolds.
