Bruce Branch III Reclassifies to 2026, Eyes College Basketball Next Fall
BREAKING: Bruce Branch III, the No. 2-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, has just announced his decision to reclassify into the 2026 class. This pivotal move means Branch will graduate from Prolific Prep in Florida this spring and is set to compete in college basketball starting next fall.
“I believe in my ability. I am confident that I can do this,” Branch stated in an exclusive interview with ESPN. He emphasized his lifelong experience of playing against older competition, recalling how he learned resilience at a young age.
Branch has not yet taken any official visits, but he is already on the radar of top-tier programs, including Kentucky, Kansas, Louisville, USC, BYU, Arizona, Houston, and Miami. A decision regarding his recruitment is expected in the spring. “I want to take things one step at a time,” he added, focusing first on leading his team at the upcoming Chipotle Nationals.
Turned 17 years old last month, Branch’s reclassification positions him to be eligible for the 2027 NBA Draft. Analysts believe he could be a strong contender for the top pick, especially in a draft class that lacks depth compared to 2026. Furthermore, Branch is a strong candidate to take over the No. 1 prospect title in the SC Next 100, a position held by Tyran Stokes for the past two years.
“I want to expand my opportunities,” Branch remarked, acknowledging the challenges ahead. He averaged 15.9 points and 5.2 rebounds on the Adidas 3SSB circuit last spring and summer while playing for the Compton Magic program, showcasing his impressive shooting with a 39% success rate from beyond the arc.
Standing at 6-foot-7 with a remarkable 7-foot-2 wingspan, Branch possesses NBA-caliber athleticism, speed, and explosiveness. His shooting skills, particularly from long range, are among the best in the class, characterized by a smooth, repetitive motion and exceptional mechanics.
Prolific Prep coach Ryan Bernardi praised Branch’s work ethic, stating, “His work ethic will prepare him for this reclassification. He is emotionally stable; he does not get too high or too low.”
As Branch prepares for this significant transition, the basketball community will be closely watching his next steps. Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops.
