UPDATE: The Container Store, known for its extensive range of storage solutions, has confirmed it will close all 104 locations across the U.S. for 24 hours on November 27, 2024, in observance of Thanksgiving. This means shoppers will be unable to purchase storage and organization products on this federal holiday, but the retailer will reopen on November 28 for Black Friday deals.

The announcement comes as part of the retailer’s ongoing tradition of closing on Thanksgiving, a policy shared on their official Instagram page. The Container Store stated,

“Our stores, distribution centers, and support center are closed today in observance of the holiday. You can still shop with us online or via our app.”

The Container Store operates in 35 states, offering a diverse selection of products from makeup organizers to holiday decoration storage. This closure will limit options for consumers seeking to shop on Thanksgiving, as several other major retailers, including Target, Walmart, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, and Ikea, will also be closed for the holiday.

While many retailers close their doors on Thanksgiving, Big Lots will be one of the few stores remaining open, operating from 7:00 a.m. to midnight on that day, according to The Holiday Hours.

This year’s Thanksgiving closures reflect a broader retail trend, as consumers increasingly turn to online shopping options. The Container Store’s decision highlights an ongoing commitment to allow employees time with their families during the holidays.

Looking ahead, shoppers should also prepare for another closure on Christmas Day, as The Container Store traditionally shuts down to observe the holiday. Consumers are encouraged to take advantage of online sales leading up to these closures to ensure they secure necessary items before the holiday rush.

As the holiday shopping season intensifies, shoppers are urged to plan ahead, especially with limited brick-and-mortar options available on Thanksgiving. Stay tuned for updates and potential changes as the situation develops.
