URGENT UPDATE: A devastating house fire in Paterson, New Jersey, has claimed the lives of five individuals, among them three children, on Halloween night. The tragedy unfolded at 9:56 p.m. on Friday at 15 Emerson Ave, where firefighters encountered a fierce blaze fueled by strong winds.

Fire Chief Alex Alicea reported that the fire rapidly spread to the second level of the one-and-a-half-story wooden structure, where the victims—two adults and three children—were tragically found. The identities and relationships of the deceased have not yet been disclosed as officials continue to investigate the incident.

The intense fire not only led to the loss of life but also displaced a total of 11 people. The Red Cross has mobilized to assist those affected, providing emergency support for temporary lodging, food, clothing, and other immediate necessities. In a statement, the Red Cross confirmed, “Our disaster volunteers were at the scene and assisted three people in two families with emergency assistance.” They expect to offer additional support to four more individuals later today.
