UPDATE: In an emotional return, Khris Middleton played his first game in Milwaukee as a visitor, receiving multiple standing ovations from a sold-out crowd at Fiserv Forum on Wednesday night. The game ended with the Washington Wizards losing to the Milwaukee Bucks 133-120.

Middleton, who spent 12 seasons with the Bucks, was traded to the Wizards earlier this year as part of a deal that brought Kyle Kuzma to Milwaukee. The reception he received was overwhelming, with fans showing their appreciation for his contributions, including a championship win in 2021. “To get that type of recognition, appreciation from the city, the organization, I mean that meant the world to me,” Middleton stated after the game.

As he stepped onto the court, Middleton was greeted by the team mascot and band, and even received personal greetings from team staff. The emotional moment peaked when a video tribute played during a first-quarter timeout, showcasing his journey with the franchise. Middleton finished the night with a team-high 23 points, eliciting cheers as he exited the game for the final time.

His longtime teammate, Giannis Antetokounmpo, who scored 37 points in the game, described the night as “weird,” noting the unique dynamic of facing off against Middleton after so many years as teammates. “Even when we became All-Stars and champions, during the summertime, playing our one-on-one battles,” Middleton reflected on their competitive spirit.

In a memorable play, Middleton drew a charge against Antetokounmpo in the second quarter, highlighting the friendly rivalry that has defined their relationship over the years. Despite the loss, Antetokounmpo praised Middleton’s performance and ability to impact the game positively.

However, the night was not without concern for the Bucks, as point guard Kevin Porter Jr. suffered a sprained left ankle early in the first quarter. Porter had scored 10 points before the injury and is set to undergo an MRI on Thursday. Bucks coach Doc Rivers expressed concern, stating, “It didn’t look good… looking at it, it was a pretty bad sprain.”

As Middleton reflects on his emotional return to Milwaukee, fans and players alike are reminded of his significant impact on the franchise. The buzz around his reception and the unfolding events around the Bucks make this a night to remember in NBA history. Stay tuned for further updates on Middleton and the upcoming MRI results for Porter.
