Kim Kardashian Responds to Backlash as “All’s Fair” Surges Globally
UPDATE: Kim Kardashian has swiftly responded to the flood of negative reviews targeting her new legal drama, All’s Fair, which many critics have labeled as “tacky” and “tasteless.” The reality star took to Instagram just hours ago to poke fun at the backlash, highlighting the show’s unexpected popularity.
“Have you tuned in to the most critically acclaimed show of the year!?!?!?” Kardashian quipped in a post featuring screenshots of social media reactions. All’s Fair is currently available for streaming on Hulu and Disney+, and Kardashian emphasized its global reach, stating it ranks as the most watched title on Disney+ in 28 countries and in the top 10 across a total of 36 territories.
The series, co-created by Ryan Murphy, initially premiered with a staggering 0 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, as of today, the rating has climbed to 5 percent, reflecting a mixed reception that has ironically drawn viewers in. Critics have taken to platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to voice their opinions, with one user humorously stating, “Some of the worst acting I’ve ever seen in my life alongside the most predictable storylines,” while expressing a desire for “14 seasons.”
Despite the harsh critiques, Kardashian’s post included a tweet celebrating the show’s unexpected success: “Critics realizing their reviews of All’s Fair ended up making people watch and love the show #AllsFair.” This sentiment was echoed by another fan who remarked, “Does a show need to be good? The answer is no.”
In her Instagram slideshow, Kardashian also showcased her glamorous appearance at the series screening last month, donning a striking purple crop top and fur ensemble alongside co-stars like Niecy Nash-Betts and Sarah Paulson.
Critics have not held back, with USA Today labeling the series “the worst TV show of the year” and The Hollywood Reporter describing Kardashian’s performance as “stiff and affectless.” Meanwhile, Lucy Mangan of the Guardian quipped, “I did not know it was still possible to make television this bad.”
In response to the criticism, director Anthony Hemingway defended the series, asserting that it “takes a minute to get into gear” and that it offers a refreshing creative perspective. He emphasized the importance of appreciating the show as a whole rather than focusing solely on one performance.
As the conversation around All’s Fair continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how this unique blend of backlash and popularity will influence viewer engagement in the coming weeks.
