Kings Coach Doug Christie Vows Team Will ‘Get It Right’ NOW
UPDATE: Sacramento Kings head coach Doug Christie has made an emphatic promise that his team will “get it right” despite navigating a “bumpy” road ahead. Speaking just hours before the Kings faced the Denver Nuggets on November 7, 2023, Christie asserted that the organization is fully committed to its goals, stating, “Change is hard… We’re about to work at it like crazy.”
Christie’s remarks come amid speculation that the Kings may be initiating a full rebuild, potentially trading star players like Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, and DeMar DeRozan. With the Kings currently sitting at a disappointing 3-7 record, Christie acknowledged the challenges facing the team, emphasizing the need for patience as they undergo significant changes.
In a passionate address lasting around two and a half minutes, Christie introduced himself as “Douglas Dale Christie” before delivering his message with conviction. He did not entertain questions from the media, but his fervor was palpable as he urged fans to “buckle up,” promising that the Kings are poised for growth despite the obstacles.
“When I see the hate, the haters, the fakers — all you guys, you keep that energy,” Christie declared. “You know who you are because while you’re doing that, we’re gonna be working.” His rallying cry aimed to unify both the team and its supporters, instilling a sense of pride and determination.
Christie’s tenure as head coach began on an interim basis after he took over following the firing of Mike Brown last December. Retained for the full season, this is Christie’s first official season leading the Kings. “We’re gonna get it right,” he reiterated, underscoring his commitment to the franchise and its future.
As the Kings prepare to face the Nuggets later today, all eyes will be on how this message resonates with both players and fans alike. Will the Kings heed Christie’s call and rise to the occasion? The season is still young, and the urgency for improvement is more pressing than ever.
Stay tuned for more updates as the Kings look to turn their fortunes around and fulfill their coach’s promise.
