Paul George Set to Miss 76ers’ Season Opener; Recovery Ongoing
UPDATE: Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George is expected to miss the team’s season opener as he continues to recover from offseason knee surgery, according to sources reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania earlier today. George, who underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee in July, is making significant progress but still has critical milestones to reach before returning to the court.
This news is particularly impactful as the 76ers gear up for the new NBA season. Fans have been eagerly anticipating George’s performance after he signed a staggering $212 million maximum contract with Philadelphia in the summer of 2024. However, his previous season was marred by injuries, limiting him to just 41 games and forcing him to shut down in March after receiving multiple injections in his left adductor muscle and knee.
George’s last season performance was notably low, averaging only 16.2 points per game, the fewest since his six-game stint in the 2014-15 season. The 6-foot-8 forward has struggled to maintain consistent play, having only surpassed 56 games in a season once since 2018-19.
Authorities report that George is expected to make his debut shortly into the regular season, but fans will need to stay tuned for updates as he continues his recovery process. The 76ers are looking to bolster their roster and capitalize on George’s talents when he returns, but his absence during the initial games will undoubtedly leave a significant void.
As the season approaches, all eyes will be on George’s recovery timeline and the implications for the 76ers’ performance. Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops.
