UPDATE: Pharrell Williams’ auction house, JOOPITER, is set to auction five exclusive pairs of Air Jordans from November 6 through November 18, 2023. This comes on the heels of a record-breaking sale, where an “aftermarket” signed Michael Jordan rookie card fetched $2.5 million in June.

Among the highlighted items are rare sample pairs, including three signed shoes and two pairs worn during Chicago Bulls playoff games. Notably, one pair consists of game-worn baseball cleats, the Air Jordan IXs, which were gifted to Ed Smith, a former Orlando Cubs player and future NFL tight end. Another standout is the Air Jordan VIIIs worn in Game 1 of the 1993 NBA Playoffs against the Atlanta Hawks, gifted to John Michael Wozniak, Michael Jordan’s famed curly-haired security guard.

Additionally, one of the signed pairs features a sample version of the iconic Jordan Air 1s, while the other two are sample Air Jordan XIs. One pair was sported during the historic 1995-96 Bulls season, where they achieved a remarkable 72-10 record, leading to a championship victory over the Seattle Supersonics.

“This auction reflects a chapter in Michael Jordan’s evolution as an athlete and a global icon whose influence continues to shape culture,” stated Caitlin Donovan, JOOPITER’s Global Head of Sale, in an exclusive interview with ESPN. “The world of sports collecting connects us to greatness and preserves moments that define generations.”

The auction presents a unique opportunity for collectors and fans alike to own pieces of basketball history. As excitement builds, bidders are encouraged to prepare ahead of the auction dates, with these iconic shoes likely to attract significant attention and competitive bids.

Stay tuned for further updates on this groundbreaking auction, as it promises to be a pivotal moment in the world of sports memorabilia.
