Pistons Surge to 9th Straight Win Over 76ers, 114-105
UPDATE: The Detroit Pistons have just secured their ninth consecutive victory, defeating the Philadelphia 76ers 114-105 on November 3, 2023, marking their longest win streak since the 2007-08 season. This impressive performance comes despite being without their star guard Cade Cunningham, who is sidelined with a bruised hip.
The Pistons (11-2) showcased their depth, overcoming the absence of key players like Jalen Duren and Tobias Harris, both recovering from ankle injuries. They also missed Jaden Ivey, who has yet to make his season debut due to a pre-season knee procedure. However, Isaiah Stewart returned from a sprained ankle, contributing 14 points and 7 rebounds in just 23 minutes.
In a dramatic twist, guard Daniss Jenkins, currently on a two-way contract, delivered a stunning half-court buzzer-beater at the end of the third quarter, bringing the Pistons within two points. Jenkins finished with 19 points and 8 assists, engaging in an electrifying matchup with All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey, who scored 31 points for the 76ers.
The Pistons dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring the 76ers, who were also missing star center Joel Embiid due to right knee soreness. Coach J.B. Bickerstaff praised his team’s resilience, stating, “We’ve got a bunch of nasty dogs in that locker room, and they love it.” This relentless attitude has propelled them to beat the 76ers twice in just six days.
With a season-high of 17 three-pointers and shooting over 41 percent from beyond the arc, the Pistons are demonstrating that they are a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. Jenkins, reflecting on his performance, said, “I can’t tell you my sauce (secret), but I’ve really been shooting that shot.”
Looking ahead, the Pistons are set to extend their win streak to ten games as they host the Indiana Pacers on Monday. With the Pacers currently tied for the worst record in the East, the Pistons are poised to capitalize and continue their impressive run.
This latest victory underscores the Pistons’ potential and determination as they aim for a successful season. Fans are eager to see if they can maintain this momentum and assert their dominance in the league.
