URGENT UPDATE: Iowa State’s star point guard Tamin Lipsey has been sidelined due to a lower-body injury and will miss the critical matchup against Creighton at the Players Era Festival on November 21, 2023. Lipsey exited Monday’s game against St. John’s with just 2:09 left on the clock, visibly struggling and walking gingerly to the locker room with his jersey pulled over his face.

This injury is a significant blow to the Cyclones, as Lipsey is averaging an impressive 18.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 3.2 steals this season. The team is now facing challenges without one of their key players just as they enter a pivotal tournament.

Coach T.J. Otzelberger provided an update post-game, stating, “We’re still evaluating. The training staff, medical staff, just told us it’s going to be a day-to-day, lower-body extremity, so I don’t have great detail on it.” The uncertainty surrounding Lipsey’s condition adds tension as the Cyclones prepare for their next game.

In Lipsey’s absence, senior guard Nate Heise is expected to take the starting role against Creighton, which could heavily impact Iowa State’s performance. This isn’t the first time Lipsey has faced injury challenges; he dealt with a groin issue last season and missed much of the preseason due to a knee injury.

As fans await further news on Lipsey’s status, the Cyclones must quickly adapt to maintain their momentum in the tournament. The atmosphere in Las Vegas will be charged as the team looks to rally despite this setback.

Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops.
