Tara Reid Reacts as Police Close Investigation into Drugging Claim
UPDATE: Tara Reid has publicly addressed the closure of the police investigation regarding her claim of being drugged at a Chicago-area hotel bar. Just days after the Rosemont Police announced the case was closed due to “no other evidence,” the actress revealed her emotional turmoil stemming from the experience.
On November 2025, Reid, 50, alleged that a stranger drugged her while at a hotel bar, leading to her hospitalization that same night. In a statement released on December 11, 2025, a spokesperson for the Rosemont Police confirmed they had spoken to all parties involved but found insufficient evidence to continue the investigation. The spokesperson emphasized, “We don’t want to say what she’s claiming is false.”
Reid expressed her feelings of heartbreak in a statement shared with PEOPLE on December 17, 2025. She stated, “All of the bullying I have been subjected to since, and everyone twisting reality without the facts they weren’t even there to witness, is truly affecting my mental health, and I need it to stop.”
In a follow-up comment to the Daily Mail, Reid addressed the implications of surveillance footage, which reportedly does not show her continuously at the bar. “They are making it seem like I chugged all this wine at once and ended up on a stretcher,” she explained, insisting the footage tells a different story. Reid clarified that she only took “one sip of wine in over 30 minutes,” and when offered another drink by the bartender, she declined because her original drink remained mostly untouched.
The actress highlighted the ridicule she faces online, pleading for “support and privacy” as she navigates this challenging situation. She stated, “I need to heal.”
This case has drawn significant media attention, bringing to light the issues surrounding allegations of drugging and the challenges faced by victims when seeking justice. As developments continue, Reid’s experience underscores the emotional toll such incidents can have on individuals, especially when compounded by public scrutiny.
