Three Teens Charged with Murder of 9/11 Survivor in Florida
BREAKING: Three teenage boys have been charged with the murder of 64-year-old Roger Borkum, a man who narrowly escaped the 9/11 terrorist attacks, according to officials in Jacksonville, Florida. The shocking announcement was made on November 20, 2023, following the death of Borkum, who succumbed to his injuries on October 23, 2023.
Authorities report that the suspects, identified as 13-year-old Justin Curry, 16-year-old Robert Pope, and 19-year-old Marcavion Lacey, were arrested shortly after the incident. Borkum was discovered on the ground in a “severely beaten” state near a building entrance, having sustained severe head injuries. Officers responded to an aggravated battery call on October 19, leading to the tragic discovery that would end his life just days later.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the three teens are not only charged with murder but were also involved in a robbery minutes after the attack. Witnesses helped identify the suspects, who were reportedly near the scene at the time of Borkum’s assault.
Borkum had a profound connection to the World Trade Center, having worked on the 77th floor before his consulting job was terminated just weeks before the attacks. His obituary highlights his narrow escape from the tragedy that claimed so many lives, including many of his coworkers. Additionally, Borkum faced personal tragedy with the loss of his wife, Celeste, during a humanitarian trip to Africa.
